I'd heard an animal has to be very intelligent indeed to have "handedness", so it is interesting to me that domestic cats show it to a small degree while spotted hyenas seem to have none.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819688123764229065.post-52992066758536148312008-10-10T15:41:00.000+03:002008-10-10T15:41:00.000+03:00Andy, what is the nastiest thing you've seen them ...Andy, what is the nastiest thing you've seen them eat and said to yourself "I can't believe they are not going to get sick?"

-JeffAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819688123764229065.post-66393339674530084002008-10-10T15:31:00.001+03:002008-10-10T15:31:00.001+03:00This comment has been removed by the author.Andy Flieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07539137262687447420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819688123764229065.post-12576559242841145412008-10-10T15:31:00.000+03:002008-10-10T15:31:00.000+03:00Robin,I posed your question to Jamie Tanner. I know there are quite a few animals that favor one side over the other. Some whales even prefer turning to one side I believe, you can check that out if you like.

Will,
Hyenas are certainly not good at flying. I am a huge fan of vultures and I am keeping open the possibility of studying their immune systems in the future.

Thanks for the comments.Andy Flieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07539137262687447420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819688123764229065.post-80191212561585319452008-10-05T21:55:00.000+03:002008-10-05T21:55:00.000+03:00Have you observed if "right-mouthers" tend to outn...Have you observed if "right-mouthers" tend to outnumber "left-mouthers" or the reverse? I've read that with domestic cats, what few cats show a preference for using one paw over the other seem to be "left-handed".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819688123764229065.post-35414161684651949002008-10-03T20:49:00.000+03:002008-10-03T20:49:00.000+03:00I bet hyenas aren't nearly as good at flying as vu...I bet hyenas aren't nearly as good at flying as vultures, though.
